The 3rd International Krzysztof Penderecki Cello Competition: registration has started
The Academy of Music in Krakow invites to the 3rd International Krzysztof Penderecki Cello Competition. This unique music event is organized in the year of Krzysztof Penderecki’s jubilee, 85th birthday and 130th anniversary of the Academy of Music. The competition will take place on December 9-16, 2018, but until August 15, you must send your participation request at www.pendereckicello.com.
The Competition is organized by The Chair of Violoncello and Double Bass of the Academy of Music in Krakow. Musicians from 16 to 28 years old can enter the competition. To take part in the competition, you must send a video recording of three songs, including: Preludium from the IV, V or VI Suites for cello solo by Johann Sebastian Bach, Notturno from Suite for cello solo by Krzysztof Penderecki and one of the following works: Am Springbrunnen op. 20 No. 2 by Karl Dawid, Papillon op. 77 by Gabriel Fauré and Elfentanz op. 39 by David Popper. The recording should include your artistic biography, a photo, a copy of the document confirming the date of birth and pay a fee of 100 PLN.
Among applications, the jury under the honorary patronage of Krzysztof Penderecki and the chairmanship of prof. Zdzisław Łapiński will select participants who will compete for prizes in the amount of:
- 1st prize – 80,000 PLN
- 2nd prize – 40,000 PLN
- 3rd prize – 20,000 PLN
- 4th prize – 10,000 PLN.
The competition also includes a special prize for the performance of the piece by Krzysztof Penderecki. The winners of the competition will perform together with the Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Krakow under the direction of Adam Klock.
